My Christmas Present to Myself
Sooo,
finally I bought some hardware, presenting it to myself for christmas. Thanks Mad hehehe
Here my desk, where I work when do HomeOffice and where I play of course.
You see there an ASUS Sabertooth 990FX, an AMD FX 6100 6-core processor and two Corsair 8GB DDR3 RAM.
Not the high end hardware but modern and upgradeable.
Think at Sunday I will start replacing.... And just because I love our dog that much, here one of the latest pics

Re: My Christmas Present to Myself
Well, after some trouble and those ******* BSOD it finally works!
Here some pics from the board, somehow cool looking All has increased but the HDD, will see if I can tweak it also a little bit with some driver settings.
Graphics increased by round about 0.5 points,
RAM +CPU about 1.5 to 2.0 points.
FRAPS now tells me an FPS between 35 and 60 which is very very very (have I said very?) noticable in gameplay

Re: My Christmas Present to Myself
Good question. And you have to write here Mojo, what is the temperature of Your CPU. I wonder because You have CPU fan as was attached within a kit I suppose. You can check it out with e.g. HWiNFO64..

Re: My Christmas Present to Myself
Runs pretty well so far, no further problems, just smooth, in gaming and also while working on it.
About temperatures: Yes, I know, a boxed CPU has not such effective cooling system as special products, but I had good experiences before, and also now.
In usuall Windows mode it lurks around 20°C most often, while gaming around 55°C. Max for this CPU is about 90°C so there is enough room. And the CPU cooling fan is silent enough, usually don't hear it at all.
